Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about appointments, insurance and fees, your visit and your results. Cannot find what you need? Our team is here to help.
Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
You can send us an enquiry using our contact form or call us on +350 200 49999. You will receive an email acknowledging your request, and our team will be in touch to confirm your appointment.
How quickly can I be seen?
We keep GP slots available for urgent needs wherever possible. Call us early in the day for the best availability.
Do you offer phone consultations?
Phone consultations can be arranged with certain clinicians, alongside appointments in person. Tell us your preference when you enquire and our team will confirm what is available.
Do I need a referral to see a specialist?
For most specialties you can arrange an appointment directly without a referral. Some procedures and insurer-funded pathways may require a referral first. If you are unsure, our team will guide you when you enquire.
How do I change or cancel an appointment?
Please give us as much notice as you can. Call +350 200 49999 or reply to your confirmation, and we will rebook or cancel your appointment for you.
Insurance & fees
Do you work with private medical insurers?
Yes. We work with leading private medical insurers and can arrange direct billing where your policy allows. Please provide us with your policy details when you receive your confirmation, so we can confirm cover before your appointment.
Can I pay for myself (self-pay)?
Absolutely. We offer transparent self-pay fees with no insurance required. Ask our team for an estimate for your appointment or procedure before you visit.
Will I know the cost before my appointment?
Yes. We aim to be clear about fees up front. For self-pay care we can provide an estimate in advance, and for insured care we will help you understand what your policy covers.
Your visit
Where are you located, and where can I park?
We are in the ICC Building at Casemates Square, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. There is paid parking in the ICC car park, motorcycle bays opposite, and Midtown car park is a five-minute walk away. See getting here for full directions.
What are your opening hours?
We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Messages received outside these hours are answered when we reopen. In a medical emergency, always call 999.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring photo ID, your insurance details (if applicable), a list of any current medication, and any relevant letters or previous results. See your first visit for the full checklist.
Is the hospital accessible?
Yes. Our facilities are designed to be accessible, and this website includes an accessibility menu (text size, high contrast, readable font and more) using the button in the lower-left corner. If you have specific needs, let us know when you enquire.
Results & records
How will I get my results?
Timing depends on the test. Samples and images are usually reported by an external laboratory or radiologist, so most written reports take a few days rather than the same visit. Your care team reviews every result before it is shared with you, and our team will let you know when yours are ready.
How do I request a copy of my medical records?
You can request your records by contacting our team on +350 200 49999 or info@gibmed.gi. We handle all records in line with our privacy policy.
